Congratulations to all who participated in the 2013 Cape Gate Vaal Marathon, the 39th running of this event on the 3rd March 2013.
For the first time ever, through the generosity of Roelof van Wyk, we have posted photos from the day.
The photos have been sorted as best we can into the clubs, but where it was too difficult to see we filed them in the dominant colour. Due to this being the first time and only one photographer taking shots, it is unlikely a photo of every runner was
taken.
Please click on your club name in the links to the left and see the gallery there.

Comment from Roelof
I am an amateur hobbyist photographer. Please be kind to me. This was my first big attempt and I shall admit, some photos are not so good, others fair and others I think are pretty good. You be the judge. I found out quickly it is not so easy to shoot that fast to get the perfect pictures all the time.
It took about 25 hours to sort and group the photos, then a number of additional hours to upload. Some clubs are difficult to identify with race numbers obscuring club names. Absolute minimal photo editing has been done, no cropping, what you see is what I snapped.
Depending on your response for these FREE pictures, we might do it again next year. I hate the normal pictures I get from races, they all look the same. I tried to get more facial expressions in and a few are quite entertaining. Never thought runners can look so good, so tired or so happy. See a lady from Sunninghill. It looks like see had the time of her life running the 42K!!
There are also a lot of group photos. Whatever other club you see in your photo, visit the other club's gallery as well. You might see a different picture of yourself.
Please remark about the venue, the route, the water points, the vibe and the Free pics...
Next year will be the 40th running of the Cape Gate Vaal Marathon, we want to go bigger and better.
See you, 2nd March 2014.
